Geothermal power, already a proven source of firm renewable power, can potentially play an even larger role in Hawaii’s clean energy future. Hawaii Electric Light Company (HELCO) seeks to expand geothermal energy on Hawaii Island. Prospective bidders and interested parties are encouraged to participate.

GEOTHERMAL RFP UPDATE (as of January 25, 2013)
• HELCO filed the Proposed Final Geothermal RFP with the State of Hawaii Public Utilities Commission (Commission) on January 25, 2013. It incorporates revisions to the Draft Geothermal RFP proposed by the Independent Observer, Boston Pacific, registrants at the December 5, 2012 Technical Conference Webinar, and interested parties and prospective Bidders via the Geothermal RFP email by the December 19, 2012 deadline.
• HELCO’s Questions and Responses Document, filed with the Commission on January 25, 2013, provides 68 responses to relevant questions as noted above.
• Independent Observer Boston Pacific is submitting Comments and Recommendations on Proposed Final Geothermal RFP and Appendices to the Commission on January 25, 2013 (to be announced).
• HELCO filed the Notice of No Availability of Utility Owned or Controlled Sites Letter with the Commission on January 25, 2013.
