HUNDREDS ATTEND EWA RALLY AFTER FIRST TELEVISED DEBATE

News Release from www.Lingle2012.com

HONOLULU – After the first AARP-sponsored KHON debate on Monday, televised around the state, over 500 people showed up to support Governor Lingle at her rally last night at Ewa Makai Middle School, including many prominent Democrats.

“When the candidates were placed side-by-side, for the entire state to see, Governor Lingle came out as the clear choice to fill Hawaii’s open U.S. Senate seat. Our staff came in to the office Tuesday morning with the phones ringing off the hook, donations pouring in, and a new volunteers showing up,” said Campaign Manager Bob Lee. “Governor Lingle’s positive, thoughtful message struck a chord with many people who are not usually involved in politics – last night’s rally was exciting!”

Independent analyst and HPU Professor John Hart, along with Honolulu media, commented that Governor Lingle clearly won the debate. KHON2.com’s post debate poll pegged Governor Lingle as the clear winner, as well as chatter on Facebook and Twitter.

“Thousands have turned out for these rallies around the state - from Hilo to Hawaii Kai - and now that the race is down to the wire, more and more are turning out to hear Linda Lingle's plan for our state. With good food, music, dance, and positive messages, these events are about more than politics, they are are about bringing people together, united for Hawaii’s future,” continued Lee.

The Ewa rally was the sixth rally held around the state attracting thousands of supporters in Kalihi, Kailua, Mililani, Hilo, Hawaii Kai and the Ewa plain. The next rally, among several more planned, is Friday, October 12 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Nanakuli High and Intermediate Cafeteria. The event is free and open to the public.
