Backed by a big rally on the Ellipse and egged on by President Trump, Trump supporters today are breaking into US Capitol, occupying the Senate floor and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office just as Congress began to debate accepting the results of the Electoral College.

Like Charlottesville in 2017, these events are made possible by a police stand-down organized by Democrats who want the Trumpsters as a foil on the political stage. Trumpsters have been a foil for Democrats since the Birthers in 2008 emerged from the previous '911 Truth' movement as the dream opponent for Obama. Trump himself was recruited to run for President by Bill Clinton as a foil for Hillary--but we know how that worked out.

At least one woman has been shot and killed in the US Capitol today. UPDATE: A Capitol Police Officer has died after being injured by rioters. Four other protesters died of medical causes during the riot including one who fell from a balcony.
The Capitol is defended only by US Capitol Police (2200 officers).

WDC Metro police (3800 officers) are nowhere to be found. DC National Guard has not been approved by the Pentagon to defend the Capitol Building in spite of requests from Speaker Pelosi and the same DC Mayor Muriel Bowser whose DC Metro officers are standing back.

UPDATE: Pentagon approves DC, MD, and VA National Guard deployment to Capitol.
UPDATE: After letting the Capitol Police go for hours without backup, Bowser declares 6PM curfew and sends in DC Metro Police. She later uses incident to whine about DC statehood.
