ITS LAWSUIT TIME.
From Hawai’i Firearms Coalition, July 28, 2020
UPDATE Aug 10, 2020: VICTORY! -- The Hawaii Attorney General and Honolulu Corporation Counsel today signed a stipulation agreeing that US Nationals from American Samoa have an equal right to keep and bear arms. Read it HERE.
A few weeks back a gentleman by the name of Alanoa Nickel reached out to us because he wanted to purchase a firearm and was being denied that right by HPD.
Mr. Nickel was born in America Samoa, and this makes him a U.S. National of the United States of America. Hawaii state law currently says that to purchase or own a firearm in the state, you must be a citizen.
On July 15, 2020, Mr. Nickel went to the Honolulu Police Department (HPD) to apply for a permit, As soon as the officers working the desk found out he was a national and not a citizen he was swiftly denied the opportunity to apply. They would not even take the time to consider his application.
Mr. Nickel contacted us, and upon hearing his story, put him in contact with Hawaii firearms Coalition Attorney Alan Beck. Alan has previously filed suit for similar matter with regards to non-citizens obtaining arms in the state, jumped to action, and today filed suit in the United States District Court for the District of Hawaii.
Mr. Nickle would be able to purchase and own firearms in any other state in the country, but Hawaii (even after being sued three times) still refuses to fix the unconstitutional wording of its laws.
This lawsuit should be swiftly won, and Mr. Nickle and other U.S. Nationals in the state will have their rights rightly restored.
Hawaii Firearms Coalition attorney Alan Beck has worked on every successful Second Amendment lawsuit in the state. He is also the attorney working on restoring Hawaii resident's right to bear arms outside of the home in Young Vs Hawaii.
Please show Alan some gratitude by taking the time by; Buying Beck A Beer. You can do so by sending Alan a few bucks on Venmo to the user @Alan-Beck-7
