CALL TO ACTION - Submit Testimony to Office of Elections Hearing

Aloha Republicans,   June 29, 2020

This year Hawaii will vote exclusively by mail. Now as many of us know this increases the chances of fraud. Couple that with the checkered history of our Office of Elections, makes it more important as ever that all political parties have representation in our vote counting centers across the State.

Recently I attended a teleconference with the Office of Elections where we were told that although we submitted our volunteers to be Official Observers, the Office of Elections had already filled the majority of these positions specifically for the General election. This left the Republican Party with only one observer on one day for the General election.

As many of you remember from previous elections, each political party was allowed a number of official observers in the vote counting location to observe. But not this year!!

On July 6th, the Office of Elections will hold a public hearing to afford all interested persons an opportunity to submit oral or written testimony on the proposed repeal of HAR, Title 3, Chapters 171 through 176, and adoption of HAR Title 3, Chapter 177. Download: Notice of Public Hearing (with text of rules proposed to be adopted and rules proposed to be repealed)

YOUR CALL TO ACTION!

Submit testimony (see below) demanding the administrative rules include the definition of "Official Observer" and guarantee all political parties at least 4 official observers each day of vote counting in both the primary and general elections.

Note: Primary election vote counting days are July 29 through August 11 and August 17; General election vote counting days are October 24 through November 6 and November 12.

Office of Elections Hearing Information

All interested persons wishing to testify on the proposed repeal and adoption of rules should submit written testimony to the Chief Election Officer, at least twenty-four hours prior to the hearing. Written testimony may be submitted by facsimile to (808) 453-6006, by email to elections@hawaii.gov, by mail to Office of Elections, 802 Lehua Avenue, Pearl City, Hawaii 96782, or by delivering the written testimony in person to the Office of Elections.

Any person submitting written testimony on the day of the hearing shall furnish 10 copies of such testimony to the Chief Election Officer's staff.

Sincerely,

Brett Kulbis
