Statement From Diagnostic Laboratory Services April 24, 2020
A story April 23 by Civil Beat, written by Blaze Lovell, contained this false statement:
“While researching other test kits, (Guy Kaulukukui, the city’s Department of Enterprise Services director) found that the kits used by Diagnostic Laboratory Services also do not have an EUA.”
We'd very much appreciate your letting your readers know that this was inaccurate.
Please see the statement below from Mark Wasielewski, MSCLS, MT(ASCP), president, Diagnostic Laboratory Services, Inc.:
"In response to the COVID-19 crisis, Diagnostic Laboratory Services, Inc. (DLS) has launched 4 commercial tests, all of which are approved by the US FDA under emergency use authorization (EUA). The statement in your recent article that states, “kits used by Diagnostic Laboratory Services also do not have an EUA,” is unsubstantiated and false. All of the tests package inserts are labeled as EUA in compliance with federal law. These package inserts are posted on the FDA EUA website for your review:
"Laboratory professionals at Diagnostic Laboratory Services have worked tirelessly and lawfully during this crisis, and respectfully request a retraction of this false statement. In the future when naming Diagnostic Laboratory Services in a report, please seek verification of that content directly with our communication professionals. We are happy to assist."
