STATE ETHICS COMMISSION RESOLVES CHARGE AGAINST ROWENA AKANA, FORMER TRUSTEE, OFFICE OF HAWAIIAN AFFAIRS, FOR ALLEGED VIOLATIONS OF CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION LAW
News Release from Hawaii State Ethics Commission, April 30, 2019
The Commission has resolved a Charge against former OHA Trustee Rowena Akana involving alleged violations of the Confidential Information law.
As part of the Settlement Agreement, Ms. Akana will pay an administrative penalty of $1,500.00 to the State of Hawaii.
This case – COMPL-C-17-00112 – is separate from the Commission’s Decision in COMPL-C-15-00236, issued on February 5, 2019, which imposed an administrative penalty of $23,106.53; Ms. Akana has appealed that Decision, and that case is pending before the Circuit Court of the First Circuit.
