Rep Quinlan to Constituent: "Get the F*** Out!"
By Andrew Walden @ 6:44 PM :: 14817 Views :: Democratic Party, Ethics, First Amendment, Second Amendment

A source has provided a copy of this letter to Hawai'i Free Press.  We have asked Rep Quinlan for comment.  Will update if Quinlan responds:

Aloha Speaker Saiki,   February 26, 2019

I was just made aware of an incident that happened at the Capitol on Thursday, February 21, during a HiFiCo Activism at the Legislature event in which a resident was there as their guest going around to promote the rights of the 2nd Amendment.

James Logue is no stranger to the Capitol as he is Secretary to the Oahu Democratic Party and a Board Member of Neighborhood 13 Downtown Chinatown. Mr. Logue is also very active in our community with different organizations that he is a member with and does a lot of volunteering not just for our community but also for our State.

As Chair of House District 29 it is my responsibility to get our district involved in voting so getting out the vote is very important. How am I supposed to convince people to get out and vote when our residents in our community are being bullied out of their representative’s offices? It’s bad enough that many don’t vote because they believe that they system has failed them but it’s even worse when we have voters that are harassed in such a manner.

To be sure, as Vice Chair of Neighborhood Board 13, Downtown Chinatown, I will bring this up to our board as our residents of our community need to be treated with respect when going to the offices of their representative or any other elected officials. No one should feel harassed.

I am personally asking that your office look into this matter of harassment as I am filing a complaint against House Representative Sean Quinlan. His outright disrespectfulness of a member of our community is unacceptable. No one needs to be treated in such a way. No one should be told to “get the fuck out” as Sean Quinlan said to Mr. Logue on that day when he went to visit his House Representative Daniel Holt of District 29. If Mr. Quinlan does not know how to show respect then maybe he should just stay in his office and not go to the other offices as this all happened at the office of Daniel Holt. Just to be sure, Daniel Holt had nothing to do with this as he was in the Finance Committee hearing at that time.

To be assured, this is not the first time that this house member has shown outright disrespect for our citizens of Hawaii. As Speaker of the House I hope you will do your due diligence into looking into this matter. The last time, Sean Quinlan harassed Dylan Armstrong as he grabbed Dylan hand during a handshake and squeezed it not letting go while her cursing at him in front of Representative Dela Belatti and other House members. If we continue to allow this matter to go uncheck I fear that in the future this anger is going to change into something worst and others may get harmed.

I sincerely hope that we can avert any other outburst by this house member. I will be looking forward to a response as I will bring this up at our Board meeting on March 7, 2019, then again at our Oahu Democratic Party general meeting on March 23, 2019

Mahalo for your time and assistance in this matter,

Ernest Caravalho

Chair of House District 29 Democratic Party

Vice Chair Neighborhood 13 Downtown Chinatown
