Payments Processed for Unpaid Invoices for 250th Celebration of Queen Kaahumanu Grant

News Release from Maui County, December 17, 2018

The Mayor's Office of Economic Development (OED) announced today that its office received a total of $8,730.28 in requests for payments for unpaid invoices for the 250th Celebration of Queen Kaahumanu grant, which was terminated in October.

OED published public notices on October 21 & 24 in the Maui News and November 1 & 8 in the Maui Times stating the deadline and criteria for submitting payment requests. Of the requests received, nine were from individual vendors in Hana. The remaining submissions came from a graphic designer and the Maui Arts & Cultural Center.

OED has verified each payment request and has processed all payments for reimbursement.  The payments will be sent out directly from the Department of Finance within the next two weeks.

“It was important to us to close out this grant before the end of Mayor Arakawa’s term,” said OED Director Teena Rasmussen. “We made a promise to the vendors that they would be paid for their services, so we are satisfied to have finally brought closure to them and to the community at large.”

After paying the vendors, there is a balance of $36,693.42 in the grant that will be disencumbered at the end of December 2018. The remaining funds will go back to the general fund of the County of Maui.

For more information, contact the Office of Economic Development at (808) 270-7710 or economic.development@mauicounty.gov Economic Development.
