News Release from State Constitutional Convention Clearinghouse, August 16, 2018
The State Constitutional Convention Clearinghouse is pleased to announce the Social Science Research Network’s publication of the The State Con-Con Papers, a compilation of 42 short essays on the history, democratic function, and politics of the periodic state constitutional convention referendum, including Hawaii’s November 6, 2018 convention referendum. Given that Hawaii statewide candidate elections are rarely competitive after the primary election, the convention referendum may be the highest profile statewide election this coming fall.
For additional background information on the upcoming referendum, see The Hawaiʻi State Constitutional Convention Clearinghouse and Snider, J.H., Does the World Really Belong to the Living? The Decline of the Constitutional Convention in New York and Other US States, 1776–2015, Journal of American Political Thought 6, no. 2 (Spring 2017): 256-293.
Sincerely,
J.H. Snider, Ph.D.
