Sam King: Its Time to Fix OHA!

From Vote Sam King June 1, 2018

I am running for Trustee of the Office of Hawaiian Affairs because It is Time to Fix OHA.  OHA matters in every aspect of Hawaiian political life:

  • OHA’s irrational inconsistency on the Thirty Meter Telescope could cost the State millions of dollars in rent, scholarships, and high-quality tech jobs, apart from the opportunity to contribute to the greatest scientific discoveries of our time.
  • OHA’s distraction with race-based elections have cost the Native Hawaiians years of progress.
  • OHA’s advocacy for more housing regulation increases the cost of housing, driving young people to the mainland and Hawaiians to homelessness.

The Office of Hawaiian Affairs’ primary job is to improve the condition of Native Hawaiians and to do that I need your help to get the message out!

If you pitch in even just $25 we can continue to reach out to even more Hawaiians about the importance of our campaign.

So please, consider giving $25, $50, $100 or more now.

Before OHA can help improve the lives of the hundreds of thousands of Native Hawaiians it serves, it must have accurate and useful data about their current conditions.  Unfortunately, as I outline in our article in the Civil Beat, OHA has been so distracted by infighting over Federal Recognition and Sovereignty that it has entirely failed to collect any useful data at all!

It is time for OHA to get back to the basics.  As a Trustee for the Office of Hawaiian Affairs I will push for a ban on OHA’s wasteful discretionary funding programs, advocate to move TMT forward immediately, stop the OHA push for Federal Recognition, work to establish truth and transparency in OHA’s finances, and return OHA back to its core mission: making Hawaii better for Native Hawaiians and all Hawaii.

I look forward to continuing our campaign together, and please remember to mark Voting Day in August and Vote Sam King!

I cannot do this without you

So please, consider giving $25, $50, $100 or more now.

You can learn more and donate at our website www.VoteSamKing.com. You can also mail checks to Friends of Sam King at PO Box 37512, Honolulu, Hawaii 96837.

Together, for all Hawaii, let’s fix OHA.

Mahalo,

Sam

P.S. You can watch my interview with Voices of Truth and learn about my vision for OHA tonight at 8:00 P.M on 'Ōlelo Television, Channel 53,
