OHA Hit With Subpoenas After Trustees Fail to Act on LLC Reform?
by Andrew Walden
Sources at OHA report State Sheriffs, Thursday April 12, 2018, served subpoenas on personnel at the Office of Hawaiian Affairs as part of an ongoing criminal investigation by the State Attorney General in cooperation with the FBI.
The subpoenas reportedly hit the day after OHA Trustees were to discuss reforms of OHA’s troubled LLCs and possible removal of LLC managers. That meeting was cancelled due to what one source called, “politics by opponents of reforming the LLCs.”
UPDATE -- We previously reported that Dan Ahuna staffer Davis Price had also been subpoenaed but have since received a email statement from Price: "I have not been served or subpoenaed, nor was any executive staff to my knowledge."
Responding to a request for comment, OHA COO Lisa Victor says, "I have not personally received any of your statements in your article regarding subpoenas. To my knowledge, on April 12th no Sheriffs appeared at OHA."
