Its been two months now, but the Limited Liability Corporations (LLCs) owned by the Office of Hawaiian Affairs (OHA) still refuse to hand over their check registers as ordered February 7 by an 8-0 vote of the OHA Board of Trustees.
On Wednesday April 11, Trustees appear set to take the next step—firing the insubordinant LLC managers and/or ordering some or all of the six LLCs to cease operations and transfer their remaining assets back to OHA. The 10AM meeting of the OHA Committee on Resource Management contains the following Executive Session agenda item:
Consultation with attorney William Yuen, Esq. and Robert Klein, Esq. on OHA's powers, privileges and liabilities regarding OHA's role as member of Hi`ilei Aloha LLC and Ho`okele Pono LLC, and Action Item RM #18-04 Authorization for OHA administration to develop a transition plan to assess the feasibility of streamlining and downsizing current LLC operations and to recruit new LLC managers as replacements for current LLC managers. Pursuant to HRS section 92-5(a)(4).
The closed executive session discussion is then followed by an open session with this on the agenda:
Action Item RM #18-04 Authorization for OHA administration to develop a transition plan to assess the feasibility of streamlining and downsizing current LLC operations and to recruit new LLC managers as replacements for current LLC managers.
Public testimony will be heard at the opening of the meeting.
