Hawaii Federalist Society - Janus v. AFSMCE - March 2, 2018 11:30am

On March 2, 2018, at 11:30 a.m., on the 8th floor of the ASB Building at 1001 Bishop Street, Honolulu, the Hawaii Chapter of the Federalist Society for Law & Public Policy Studies will be hosting a discussion on the merits and potential impact of the Janus v. AFSCME case currently set for oral arguments before the United States Supreme Court on February 26, 2018.

Hawaii is one of the most unionized states in the country and the Janus case could make it illegal to force public sector employees to pay agency fees to public sector unions.

The featured speakers will be Tony Gill, a prominent Hawaii labor attorney who has represented the University of Hawaii Professional Assembly since 1982 and the Hawaii State Teachers Association from 1982 - 1992, and Robert Alt, the President of the Buckeye Institute, who has submitted two amicus briefs on the case in support of the petitioner (which can be found here and here).  The event will be moderated by Dr. Keli'i Akina, President of the Grassroot Institute and an OHA Trustee.

Lunch will be provided free of charge during the event, as well as 1 free CLE credit.  Additional details are set forth in the attached FLIER.

You may RSVP directly with this form or by emailing fedsochawaii@gmail.com.

Thank you,

Sam King
