State Ethics Commission January 4, 2018
RE: Formal Complaint against State Senator Donovan DelaCruz Using his Elected Office for Personal Gain
I am filing a formal ethics complain against State Senator Donovan Dela Cruz; It is clear he is using his office for personal gain, he has found a way to "monetize" his influence within the State Legislature via his Company DTL, which is a self-described "a Hawaiian strategic multidisciplinary studio that helps business, governments, organizations and communities navigate change."
He is circumventing the law and become an in-house lobbyist for his clients, a very powerful one at that. His company is relatively new, yet look at the client list they boast about on their website:
OUR CLIENTS
In addition, he received money (45k?) from NextEra while they had business if front of the state of Hawaii, and his company has done work for the Rail Project. His recent conflict at the Boat Harbor just smacked of insider dealing at its worst. He does work for OHA, HTA, both of which receive tax payer dollars. The others listed above certainly can use a powerful State Senator in their pocket.
Please consider this electronic filing a formal Complaint.
Sincerely,
(name withheld)
