A Personal Letter
Aloha, November 7, 2017
As my longtime supporter, you are the first to hear that I have decided to run for Congress to represent Hawai‘i's 1st Congressional District! With over 30 years of public service helping people across our communities, I am running for Congress to ensure that our interests for a more prosperous Hawai‘i are represented in Washington, D.C.
We came up a little short a few years ago when I ran in 2014. These last four years have only increased my resolve that Hawai‘i needs a leader who has a proven track record of improving our schools, working for higher wages and more affordable housing, and ensuring that we take care of our kupuna. Four years ago, so many of you contributed financially to my campaign, held signs, hosted coffee hours, and supported me in so many different ways. With so much at stake, I know this time around we will be successful because of your continued support.
After many in-depth conversations with friends and loved ones, we are convinced with the current political climate in America, we need to have strong representatives that can work across the aisle to enact common-sense legislation. This campaign will not be about me, but about protecting your rights and those for our keiki, our kupuna, and veterans. I hope to bring my 30 plus years of proven and effective leadership experience in Hawai‘i to our nation's capitol. You can trust that I will stand up to the entrenched powerful interest and always protect Hawai‘i interests.
We have about nine months before the primary and we will need to hit the ground running. I’m reaching out to all of you now to help me run a successful campaign. I’m humbly asking for your support in putting Hawai‘i first in Washington DC. Please show your support by making a contribution or signing up to volunteer – today.
Once again, so much love and aloha for your continued support.
With gratitude,
Donna
