Strategic Plan Dynamic Report Goal 1

New online tool provides greater insight on department progress

News Release from Hawaii DoE, 07-Nov-2017

In an effort to make performance data easily available to the public, HIDOE today announced the launch of its Strategic Plan Dynamic Report at the BOE meeting. The new online resource allows the public to view data across performance indicators identified in the 2017-2020 Strategic Plan.

In an effort to make performance data easily available to the public, the Hawaii State Department of Education (HIDOE) today announced the launch of its Strategic Plan Dynamic Report at the Hawaii State Board of Education (BOE) meeting. The new online resource allows the public to view data across performance indicators identified in the 2017-2020 Strategic Plan.

“The Strategic Plan Dynamic Report is an important tool that provides our schools and the community with easier access to performance data, and transforms it into a visual presentation that’s easy to understand,” said Superintendent Dr. Christina Kishimoto. “The report will allow the public to monitor progress toward Strategic Goals and Objectives and provide insight behind the data-driven decisions being made at various levels throughout the department.”

The 2017-20 Strategic Plan was adopted by the BOE in December 2016. It is the guiding document for public education in Hawaii with three overarching goals: Student Success, Staff Success, and Successful Systems of Support. Goal 1 Student Success indicators are now available here: http://bit.ly/HIDOE-SPDR

Student Success indicators include Chronic Absenteeism, 3rd Grade Literacy, Academic Achievement, Achievement Gap, College-Going Graduates, School Climate, 9th Grade On-Track, High School Graduation, Inclusion Rate, and CTE Concentrators. The public can use the dynamic report to get a statewide view of 2017 performance data, compared with 2016, and view the 2020 goal for each indicator. Users are able to select Complex Areas and student subgroup categories to dive deeper into the data.

Data for Goal 2 Staff Success and Goal 3 Successful Systems of Support indicators will be released at the Nov. 21 BOE meeting.

The creation of the Dynamic Report was driven by Goal 3, Objective 3b from the Strategic Plan, to “Provide timely and user-friendly data to support strategic decision-making and accountability for Student Success.” Data being shared is generated from the Strive HI Performance System.

As stated in the Strategic Plan, “data on statewide indicators will be reported regularly to the BOE and the public on a “dashboard” to monitor progress toward equity and excellence…The data will be analyzed and reported for different groups of students and schools to ensure equity in outcomes and so we can direct our efforts and resources effectively.”
