President Trump Rescinds Letter Regulating Public School Bathrooms and Locker Rooms

President Trump on Wednesday rescinded protections for transgender students that had allowed them to use bathrooms corresponding with their gender identity.

We believe that schools are able to provide a safe environment for all students - including transgender students - without compromising the security and privacy of other students. The prior Administration was threatening Districts with the loss of federal funds if they didn't allow, for example, biological boys to use the girls' locker rooms and bathrooms. The executive order had even required that schools allow boys to participate in girls' athletics and stay with girls on overnight school trips.
