PRIMARY VOTER GUIDE NOW AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD!
From Hawaii Family Forum, August 2, 2016
1. The Primary Election is just around the corner and walk in voting began yesterday and will continue until August 11, 2016. If you’re not registered to vote, you cannot vote in Hawaii's Primary Election on August 13. Make sure you are registered for the General Election!
2. Please join with us in getting HFF’s 2016 Voter Guide and companion website, ivotehawaii.org, to thousands of Hawaii's voters by making a donation! Because of a lack of funding, we were unable to order newspaper print copies of this voter guide. If you want to see those newspaper print copies for the General Election, we need a minimum of $10,000.
3. Finally, your vote is your voice. Let me put it this way; your candidates won’t be on the November ballot if you don’t put them there in August. This Primary Election is critical. Hawaii voters who value life, marriage and family, and the freedom to live out one’s faith cannot sit this one out! We must vote and vote informed! Hawaii Family Forum's Voter Guide and ivotehawaii.org allows voters to cut through the political spin and learn what candidates really think about key issues.
PLEASE NOTE: We understand that there are candidates who do not respond to our survey and this year is no different. We would like to acknowledge that we understand these questions are much more complicated than a simple yes or no but we wanted to get to the candidates’ root beliefs on these topics — only allowing them to answer yes, no, undecided/unsure or to decline to answer the question altogether. Therefore, we ask readers to take this into consideration while reading the yes-or-no answers. We strongly encourage people in the community to make direct contact with their candidates if they want clarification on a candidate's position on an issue. To that end, we have provided the phone numbers for candidates as provided by the Office of Elections. If we were provided email addresses and candidate websites, we have provided that information as well.
If you open the PDF copy of the guide, all the links are active so you can go right to a candidate's website (if it was made available to us). In addition, this year we added an 75 word essay question to the survey. We asked the candidates to tell us what the number one priority issue for them is for the 2017-2018 legislative session and then we asked them to tell us how THEY will make a difference on this issue. (Any words after 75 are truncated.) We are grateful to ALL THE CANDIDATES that responded to our survey.
