Darby heading to Hawaii, tropical storm watch issued Thursday

A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for Hawaii and Maui Counties. Tropical Storm force winds are possible over Hawaii Island and portions of Maui county beginning Saturday (July 23).
The Central Pacific Hurricane Center reports Tropical Storm Darby heading towards Hawaii with little change in strength.
As of 5 p.m. HST Thursday (July 21) the center of Darby was located about 500 miles (800 km) east of Hilo moving west near 13 mph (20 km/h). Maximum sustained winds are 65 mph (100 km/h). Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 105 miles (165 km) from the center.
Little change in strength is forecast for the next 48 hours. Darby will pass very close to, or over, Hawaii Island on Saturday.
A Flash Flood Watch and High Surf Advisory has been issued for Hawaii Island and Maui.
