NOMINATIONS SOUGHT FOR STATE GAME MANAGEMENT ADVISORY COMMISSION MEMBERS

HONOLULU -- Individuals with an interest in representing the interests of local hunters and actively participating in Hawaii’s game resource management are welcome and encouraged to apply to serve on a new statewide Game Management Advisory Commission.
The Commission will serve in an advisory capacity to the Board of Land and Natural Resources and may recommend policies and criteria regarding the management, protection, and promotion of public hunting in Hawaii. Additionally, the commission may recommend amendments to existing department policies
The nine-member Commission will consist of: one member each from Kauai, Oahu, Maui, Lanai, and Molokai, two from the county of Hawaii, one at-large member as well as the chairperson of the board of land and natural resources or the chairperson's designated representative.
House Bill 1041, establishing a statewide Game Management Advisory Commission (the Commission) was signed into law as Act 210, on July 5, 2016
In order to be eligible to serve on the Commission, one member must be a hunter licensed in the State under this chapter and with leadership experience in working directly with local hunter or shooting organizations. At least one member is also required to have knowledge, experience, and expertise in the area of native Hawaiian cultural practices
