FORMER STATE REPRESENTATIVE RICHARD FALE TO PAY $1,000 FOR CAMPAIGN REPORTING VIOLATION

HONOLULU – Former State Representative Richard Fale, District 47 (Waialua, Haleiwa, Pupukea, Kahuku, Laie, Hauula, Waikane, Waiahole, Sunset Beach, Punaluu, Kaaawa) pleaded no contest on July 1st in state district court for failing to file a complete and accurate candidate committee report.
Under the terms of a plea agreement reached with the State and accepted by Honolulu district court Judge Lono J. Lee, former Representative Fale agreed to pay one thousand dollars ($1,000) to the Crime Victim Compensation Fund, publish an apology on his campaign’s social media webpage, and be in full compliance with the Campaign Spending Commission including payment of all fines assessed, which currently amounts to five-hundred dollars ($500). The Court granted Representative Fale’s request for a deferred acceptance of plea.
Attorney General Doug Chin said “Former Representative Fale recklessly filed candidate committee reports that were not complete and accurate.”
Kristin Izumi-Nitao, Executive Director of the Campaign Spending Commission said: “I am pleased that the Attorney General continues working with the Campaign Spending Commission to enforce our campaign finance laws.”
