Message to Supporters from Djou Campaign June 19, 2016
In case you missed it, the reviews of incumbent Mayor Kirk Caldwell's handling of the City rail project are scathing.
- In the Sunday paper the editorial board of the Honolulu Star Advertiser described Caldwell's actions as, "nothing less than abject failure of leadership." The newspaper characterized Caldwell's decision-making as "political expediency" driven by his re-election campaign.
- Political commentator Richard Borreca remarked the flip-flop double reversal by the mayor on rail shows "Caldwell isn't going into this race with sails filled with a strong wind," Borreca even quoted the Speaker of the House, Joe Souki, saying Caldwell's action "screws it up royally."
- Writer Lee Cataluna, perhaps best summed up Caldwell's management of rail by calling it a "belly flop." Cataluna concludes that rail under Caldwell is "absolute proof that no one is in control of this crazy train."
Our community deserves better. We deserve a leader we can trust. We need Charles Djou.
Aloha,
Team Djou
