Second Crossover—Bills Head for Conference Committee

Conference Committees

From Rep Beth Fukumoto Chang April 15, 2016

On April 14th, the Legislature hit the second crossover deadline of the 2016 legislative session. Second Crossover means that all bills passing third reading in the non-originating chamber (House or Senate) will return to the originating chamber.

If the originating chamber agrees to the changes or no changes were made, the bill is sent to the Governor for enactment. If the originating chamber disagrees with the changes made to the bill, the bill goes to conference. Additionally, any bills from the 2015 session that did not pass out of conference are still eligible for conference committee consideration. Conference committees begin the week of April 14th.

Mililani Ike

The students from Mililani Ike never fail to brighten my day! This past Tuesday (4/12), I got a surprise visit from Ike students when they stopped by the Capitol for a quick lunch break during a field trip.
