State House committee to hear ferry bill Wednesday morning

The Hawaii state House of Representatives Committee on Transportation will hear Senate Bill 2618 Senat4e Draft 1 (SB 2618 SD 1) at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 16, 2016.
SB 2618 is titled “Relating to transportation” and proposes to direct and fund the Hawaii State Department of Transportation (HSDOT) to accomplish a Hawaii interisland ferry feasibility study and submit the report to the State Legislature for the 2017 regular session.
The bill was heard by two Senate Committees and has been referred to two House Committees for hearings. The two House Committees are Transportation and Finance.
The Hawaii Shippers’ Council submitted testimony for the hearing before the Transportation Committee on Wednesday. See attachment HSC-225.
