Warning labels and beverage tax fail in Legislature!
From Hawaii for Food and Beverage Choice February 20, 2015
We have good news to share about our fights against unfair taxes and regulation.
Proposals in the Hawaii state legislature to require a warning label on most sweetened beverages failed two times last week. And the state's fourth attempt in the past five years to impose a tax on sweetened beverages failed yet again!
We know that complicated health issues like obesity and diabetes are serious conditions that are more complicated than warning labels and taxes. With your help, our coalition was instrumental in showing lawmakers how harmful these proposals would be for Hawaii families and businesses.
We will continue to keep you updated on any developments - we expect the same threats to appear again in 2016.
