GOVERNOR ANNOUNCES NOMINATIONS FOR THE HAWAII COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY BOARD

HONOLULU – Governor David Ige today announced his nominees to the Hawaii Community Development Authority (HCDA).
The HCDA is a state agency that was established to promote and coordinate public and private sector community development in its designated community development districts.
This is the first time Board members have been named in accordance with Act 61 (HRS Sec. 206E-3), and they are subject to confirmation by the Senate.
The appointees are:
At-Large Member, Nominated by the Senate President
- John Whalen; Expiration Date: June 30, 2019
At-Large Member, Nominated by the Speaker of the House
- Tom McLaughlin; Expiration Date: June 30, 2018
Heeia Community, Nominated by the Honolulu City Council
- Donna Camvel, Resident; Expiration Date: June 30, 2017
- Amy S. Luersen, Resident; Expiration Date: June 30, 2019
- Brett N. Prejean, Area Small Business or Non-profit Representative; Expiration Date: June 30, 2018
Kalaeloa Community, Nominated by the Honolulu City Council
- Michael J. Golojuch, Sr., Resident; Expiration Date: June 30, 2018
- Shirley S. Swinney, Resident; Expiration Date: June 30, 2018
- Dean Capelouto, Area Small Business or Non-profit Representative; Expiration Date: June 30, 2017
Kakaako Community, Nominated by the Honolulu City Council
- William Oh, Resident; Expiration Date: June 30, 2019
- Jason T. Okuhama, Resident; Expiration Date: June 30, 2017
- Steven J. Scott, Area Small Business or Non-profit Representative; Expiration Date: June 30, 2017
By statute, the terms of these members were determined by lot.
By statute, the director of finance and the director of transportation, or their designees, also serve on the Board as ex officio members, and the county director of planning and permitting and the chairperson of the Hawaiian Homes Commission serve in an ex-officio, nonvoting capacity.
Two positions, both to be appointed by the governor, have yet to be announced: one at-large member and one cultural specialist.
