Protest Rail Tax Hike Monday Jan 26
By News Release @ 4:38 PM :: 5904 Views :: Honolulu County, Rail, Taxes

ENOUGH ALREADY!!! DO SOMETHING!

From Hawaii's Thousand Friends

WHAT: Mayor Caldwell will pitch the State to extend the Rail Tax* beyond the current 2022 deadline.

SHOW UP FOR A DEMONSTRATION against the Mayor.

No public testimony will be taken but we want to have a SHOW OF FORCE (500 to 1000) of anti-extension citizens wearing RED SHIRTS with many of us carrying SIGNS/BANNERS in a silent protest.

WHEN: Monday, Jan 26, 2015, hearing starts at 2:30pm

WHERE: State Capitol Auditorium (Chambers/Basement Level)

WHY: Let legislators and the citizens know that the VAST MAJORITY OF THE PEOPLE ARE AGAINST THE EXTENSION (Star Advertiser Big Q poll: 69% said "NO")

We want to get citizens who oppose this Rail Tax (or the Rail project), to realize that they HAVE TO DO SOMETHING; they cannot just sit back and hope the tax extension and the Rail project will go away. Otherwise, "All that is needed for the Rail Tax* to continue on forever is for those opposed to it to….. do nothing."

*Tax Foundation of Hawaii estimates the Rail Tax costs each man, woman, and child in Honolulu $200 per year, regardless of whether they use Rail or not. If you have a family of 5, that’s $1,000 per year! And that’s forever unless we stop it
