Hawaii Republicans To Host United States Senator Jeff Flake From Arizona For Annual Lincoln Dinner in February
News Release from Hawaii Republican Party
HONOLULU (January 12, 2015) - Pat Saiki, Chairman of the Republican Party of Hawaii announced today that United States Senator Jeff Flake of Arizona will keynote the Party's annual Lincoln Dinner on Thursday, February 19 at the Ko`olau Ballrooms in Kaneohe. The proceeds of this event will provide the resources to find, train, and support local Republican candidates for the 2016 election cycle.
"We are honored to have Senator Flake as our speaker. Having attended BYU, he is very familiar with our islands, our people and our customs. He can be a strong spokesman for Hawaii in the Republican majority in the U.S. Senate," said Chairman Saiki.
Senator Flake sits on several committees which can impact Hawaii’s needs and concerns. As a member of the Energy and Natural Resources Committee which deals with environmental decisions affecting wind, solar and LNG, his committee's legislation can have a direct impact on Hawaii’s highest-in-the-nation energy costs.
He sits on the Foreign Relations Committee and the subcommittee dealing with matters affecting East Asia and the Pacific. With the pending deployment of our Armed Forces, he can provide an insider's view of the impact on Hawaii and the Pacific nations.
Thirdly, he sits on the Judiciary Committee which handles legislation affecting Anti-trust, Bankruptcy and the Courts, Immigration, Refugees and oversight on Technology and the Law.
