Keli'i Akina Launches TV Ads to Urge Everyone to Vote in OHA Election
Opposes Dividing People by Race
News Release from Akina Campaign October 18, 2014
Honolulu, HI -- Dr. Keli'i Akina his launched a commercial television and Facebook ad campaign urging all voters in Hawaii to vote in the OHA Trustee election. The ads also highlight his distinctive campaign message which is to unite, rather than divide, all people of the state.
In the first ad, Dr. Akina says: "I want to urge every voter to cast your ballot for an OHA Trustee. Why? Because it's time we stop dividing Hawaii's people on the basis of race. I'm proud to be Hawaiian and proud to be American."
Akina holds that the Office of Hawaiian Affairs should stop wasting money on the failed pursuit of race-based nationhood and, instead, use that money to help meet the real needs of Hawaiians for housing, education, jobs, and health care.
