Ige Wants To Charge $500 For Parking In Downtown Honolulu!?
News Release from Hawaii Republican Party, October 15, 2014
On the same day the Wall Street Journal ranked Honolulu the most expensive region in the entire country, Senator David Ige declared he wants to make parking cost $500 a month in Downtown.
"Ige, a state senator, wants people to walk and bike more. Maybe a lane on King Street should be devoted to bikes, he said. He also said charging $500 a month to park downtown might convince some that other modes of transportation are far cheaper." (Civil Beat, 10/15/14)
The cost of living in Honolulu and across Hawaii has been spiraling out of control under Senator Ige's leadership over the past four years, and his tax increases have only made it worse. Now Senator Ige wants to double down on misguided policies that will make the cost of living that much worse than it already is.
"Senator Ige's latest extreme proposal clearly demonstrates that the cost of living in Hawaii is at the bottom of his list of priorities, since his policies have consistently made it even worse. Middle-class families and small businesses in Hawaii simply cannot afford another four years of Senator Ige's misguided policies." --Hawaii Republican Party Communications Advisor Ted Kwong
