PBS Debate - Djou Focused on Hope and Future; Takai All About Fear and the Past
News Release from Djou Campaign
Former Congressman Charles K. Djou participated in the first televised debate with his Democrat opponent tonight on Hawaii Public Television.
"During tonight's debate Djou focused on the future of our country and offered positive solutions to overcome partisanship and fix the major problems facing America," stated Barbara Marumoto, Djou Hawaii campaign manager. "Takai spent the entire debate attacking Djou, seeking to spread false fear, divide our community and concentrated entirely on the past. Tonight's debate shows that this campaign is going to come down to a simple choice between Djou's positive hope and the negative fear being pushed by Takai."
Throughout the night, Takai falsely attempted to paint Djou as a "tea party" candidate when the truth is that Djou isn't a member of the Tea Party and was repeatedly ranked as a centrist moderate in Congress. Takai offered no solutions to any problem facing our nation. In contrast, Djou advocated numerous reforms to improve government in the areas of healthcare, veterans administration and education.
Djou has appeared at over 10 different forums or debates in this congressional race.
