Aiona Fact Checks Ige in Tonight's Chamber Debate
News Release from Aiona Campaign September 23, 2014
“It's time!" Duke Aiona exclaimed at tonight's Chamber of Commerce gubernatorial debate. "It's time to get out of the way of business and let them do what they need to do!"
Time and time again Aiona repeated support for stronger business, especially small businesses that make up a majority of Hawai'i and keep a majority of monies locally. That's just one of Aiona's initiatives in overcoming the state's overwhelming cost of living and status quo. A status quo that would continue with David Ige, who despite denying it in tonight's debate, did vote for an across-the-board General Excise Tax (GET) increase in 2011. Ige also voted for budget cuts that lead to Furlough Fridays, which ironically he questioned Aiona about allowing to pass as Lieutenant Governor.
"We made a mistake," Ige confessed on another challenge, "in moving forward with the Health Connector." Aiona reminded the audience that "mistake" cost Hawai'i over $200 million.
Aiona concluded with a relentless hammering of his sustaining sentiment: "It's time to turn Hawai'i in a different direction!"
