Honolulu Grants-in-Aid Workshops Set
By Councilmember Kymberly Marcos Pine @ 3:58 AM :: 5011 Views :: Honolulu County

Non-Profit Organization Grants Available Soon

News Release from Office of Councilmember Kym Pine

Each year the City awards grants to qualified non-profit organizations serving our communities. Last year organizations serving our district received over $1 million, which helped deliver a variety of community services which included after-school youth activities, healthcare services and substance abuse prevention programs to our Leeward communities.

City grants are very competitive and the City’s Department of Community Services (DCS) strongly recommends that interested non-profits attend a grant workshop prior to opening of the grant application period in November.

Workshops will cover the City’s Grants in Aid (GIA) fund, and highlight key dates and elements of the GIA process. City grant administrators will be on hand to share grant writing tips as well as answer questions. Workshops will be held on:

  • Tuesday, September 30, 2014 – Honolulu
  • Thursday, October 2, 2014 – Honolulu
  • Tuesday, October 7, 2014 – Kapolei (Tentative)

You can RSVP for the Kapolei workshop by contacting my office no later than Sunday, September 28, 2014.

City Grants in Aid serve economically disadvantaged and/or socially disadvantaged populations, or provide services for public benefit in the areas of arts, culture, economic development or the environment.

Non-profit organizations will have the opportunity to submit their GIA application during the Request for Grant Proposals beginning November 17, 2014 through December 19, 2014. You can also find a tentative timeline of the GIA process by clicking here.

I strongly encourage Leeward non-profit organizations who have never submitted a GIA application to attend one of these important workshops.

If you have any questions, or would like to RSVP for the Kapolei workshop, please call (808) 768-5001 or e-mail kmpine@honolulu.gov.
