"Even if it is Unconstitutional"
Message to Supporters from Hanabusa Campaign
Aloha, August 14, 2014
Due to today's ruling, the final votes in our race will be cast in Puna tomorrow.
I want you to know that Colleen stood up for a fair voting process. Though the judge in the case had numerous problems with holding a hasty election without proper notice, he ruled that "the court is not supposed to interfere with an ongoing election process even if it is unconstitutional."
We are extremely disappointed for the people of Puna, especially since Judge Nakamura said that holding this election tomorrow lacks "common sense" and "shows some insensitivity to the plight of people in Puna."
We still believe that recovery is the top priority. We will continue to distribute food, water, fruit and ice to those in need.
However, we also believe the people of Puna deserved to be informed that there is an election tomorrow. We are canvassing the precincts and will provide rides to anyone who needs a lift to the polling place.
Everyone deserves a chance to have their vote count.
This campaign is not over and we will continue to work hard to earn every vote.
We have never been more thankful for your support of our campaign.
Mahalo,
