In this edition of E Hana Kakou, Grassroot President Keli’i Akina sits down with Andrew Walden, Founder and Editor of Hawai'i Free Press. Ten years ago, Mr. Walden founded HFP, bringing his signature brand of investigative journalism and daily news to Hawaii’s media. Hawai'i Free Press immediately stood out for its willingness to take on issues and views that had previously been ignored by much of the mainline video. In this interview, Dr. Akina and Mr. Walden discuss changes in news media as well as some of Hawaii’s most pressing current events, from the elections to education reform and the Native Hawaiian Roll.
