Election 2014: Republican Candidates for Lieutenant Governor /Political Perspective From PBS Insights Thursday, July 17, 8:00 pm The next INSIGHTS on PBS HAWAII will begin with the two Republicans vying for the office of Lieutenant Governor. Elwin Ahu, a senior pastor at New Hope Metro, and Kimo Sutton, who has served as a delegate to the last Hawaii and national Republican conventions, will discuss their own platforms and their stances on issues like the economy, education and the environment. In the second half of INSIGHTS, political analysts John Hart and Chad Blair will share their thoughts on all the big races now that many of the top contenders have appeared in public debates and forums. Who’s sitting pretty, who needs to step it up and what predictions can be made about both the primary election and the general election? Mahealani Richardson will moderate both discussions. Governor Candidates will face off to answer questions from Mahealani Richardson, formerly of KITV. It will air live on PBS Hawaii at 8 PM. This forum will be the only debate the Republican candidates for office are asked to attend by any TV station or political debate on TV group and the the issues may be more of liberal in nature as questions are phoned in and emailed. She also moderated the Democrat first district Congressional forum last week. You can send in questions in advance to insights@pbshawaii.org to even the issues. Both parties are supposed to be represented though Mary Zanacis my not have been invited. They will face off against their party members for a half hour so be sure to tune in or DVR it.
