DAVE BATEMAN ANNOUNCES FOR HOUSE 5

News Release from Bateman Campaign

Keauhou Mauka Kona coffee farmer Dave Bateman has announced that he will run for the State House District 5 seat, representing Kona to Ka’u. Bateman filed papers June 3rd making his official entry into the House 5 race.

Bateman owns Heavenly Hawaiian Coffee Farms which he and his wife have operated for the past nine years., He is also a retired US Air Force Reserve Colonel (JAG), former Assistant Attorney General for Washington state and attorney in private practice for over 30-years,

“With the exception of tourism, our island economy is in worse shape now than two years ago. Living costs continue to spiral upward. And our elected leaders continually disrespect the voters by passing laws that the people have clearly said they do not want,” Bateman said, explaining his desire to listen to the voice of the local community. He indicates he will push to add employment on this island by increasing agricultural jobs and farming opportunities, and also fight to reduce the high cost of living. Bateman says he will also work to improve education.

Bateman says that he wants to help local families and farmers, and promises to be a clear voice for the needs of the mostly agricultural Kona and Ka’u districts.

Bateman is past President of the Kona Sunrise Rotary Club and a board member of the Kona Coffee Council, the Hawaii Coffee Association, and the CBB Task Force. He and his wife Trudy live in Keauhou Mauka and have two grown children and three grandchildren.
