The purpose of this informational briefing is to update the State legislature on the progress of the Native Hawaiian Roll Commission. In 2011, Act 195 was signed into law by Governor Abercrombie, recognizing the Native Hawaiians as the indigenous population of the Hawaiian Islands. The law establishes the Native Hawaiian Roll Commission to certify and publish a roll of Qualified Native Hawaiians. The roll is to be used to organize a Native Hawaiian governing entity that is recognized by the State of Hawai‘i, and can be recognized by the United States.
No public testimony will be accepted.
If you require auxiliary aids or services to participate in the informational briefing (i.e. ASL or foreign language interpreter, or wheelchair accessibility), please contact the committee clerk at least 24 hours prior to the briefing so that arrangements can be made.
For further information, please call the Committee Clerk at 586-7793.
