LATEST POLL SHOWS DEMOCRATIC GUBERNATORIAL CANDIDATE SENATOR DAVID IGE TIED WITH INCUMBENT
Results Among Those Likely to Vote In Primary Election
News Release from Ige for Governor February 24, 2014
HONOLULU – The second gubernatorial poll of Hawaii’s 2014 political season indicates growing support for State Senator David Ige. The Civil Beat poll shows Ige tied at 37% with his democratic opponent. The poll further illustrates the high unfavorability ratings of Hawaii’s current administration.
Senator David Ige, said, “This is another poll showing Hawaii voters are looking to make our state better. This is a close race, and everyday I’m inspired by the people I meet, as I make my way across the islands to share my vision for Hawaii. If we listen to one another and work together we can move Hawaii forward.”
Since announcing for office in August 2013, Senator Ige has attended hundreds of coffees and events across the islands, and will continue to introduce himself and reach out to voters until primary election day.
The campaign will be in full swing beginning this Saturday with the grand opening of the Oahu headquarters. Former Governors Ariyoshi and Cayetano will lend their support to David’s bid for governor at the Oahu campaign headquarters opening Saturday, March 1, 2014. The public is invited to attend the event from 11 to 1pm at the Varsity Building at 1110 University Avenue. Guests will also enjoy entertainment from Mountain Apple recording artists Paula and Vergel Jepas with special guests Brother Noland.

…Abercrombie, who is white, polls best among Caucasians. Maui voters like him most, urban Oahu voters least. He gets high marks from liberals. But a majority of union households — 58 percent — disapprove of the governor.
Ige, who is Japanese-American, does best among Japanese. He is largely an unknown quantity on all the islands. Conservatives favor him the most ideologically. And he is not well-known among union households….
