On the trail to Hawaii Islam Day: Saudi money, Libyan assassins, Palestinian Jihad, London bombers, Malaysian sodomy, and laughing Islamists

"Men occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of them pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing ever happened." -- Winston Churchill

by Andrew Walden

Is Hawaii, "an unlikely flashpoint for debate about Israeli military action in the Gaza Strip?"  The Honolulu Advertiser says so.

Islamists and their supporters have planned a week of propaganda activities in Hawaii leading up to "Islam Day"--declared by the Hawaii State Legislature to be Thursday, September 24, 2009--a day which corresponds to absolutely nothing on the Islamic calendar but is September 11, 2009 on the old Julian calendar.

Maya Wind and Netta Mishly, Israeli draft-dodgers, spoke at UH Manoa Monday.  They will follow up with a protest aiming at Israeli politician "Tzipi" Livni.  Tagged "Israel's Mrs Clean" by Time Magazine, Livni is a former acting Israeli Prime Minister who leads the moderate Kadima Party--main opposition to the current Likud Party government.  She is an advocate of the "two-state solution" for Israel and Palestine.

But this isn't good enough for the 19-year old draft dodgers or their backers from the Maoist-controlled "WorldCan'tWait", the "Hawaii Friends of" the Palestinian-controlled "Sabeel", the anti-Israel "Jewish Voice for Peace", and Code Pink, a group co-founded by pro-Castro former Cuba resident Medea Benjamin and a witch named Starhawk.  On Tuesday they will be protesting Livni's appearance at the Governor's International Women's Leadership Conference.

The misnamed "Jewish Voice for Peace" website proudly shows Wind and Mishly meeting recently with anti-Semite 9-11 truther Ex-Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney (D-GA).

Mao Zedong murdered 70 million Chinese people.  But WorldCan'tWait member Carolyn Hadfield tells the Advertiser, "In Hawaii, where there are issues of occupation, for Lingle to bring in an occupier and hold her up as a role model in Hawaii is outrageous."  Perhaps the WorldCan'tWait thinks Gaza is an example for native Hawaiians?  Bumpy Kanahele and the Office of Hawaiian Affairs in December, 2004 teamed up to sponsor that very message, peddled on a five-island speaking tour by PLO attorney Frances A Boyle.

The finale will come in the form of Thursday's Islam Day celebration.  Like the draft-dodger protest tour sponsored by the Maoists, Islam Day is also getting major play in the Advertiser.  Hakim Ouansafi, President of the Muslim Association of Hawaii tells reporter Michael Tsai, "This never was and never will be about talking about our religion."  That may come as a surprise to the event's headline act, the DC-based rappers of "Native Deen"--featured on music videos singing: “M-U-S-L-I-M, I’m so blessed to be with them.”

The Interfaith Alliance Hawaii explains:

"Through Hakim’s conversation a resolution was introduced and passed in the 2009 Legislature to celebrate September 24th as Islam Day. The purpose is 'to provide an opportunity for the community to learn about Islam and promote awareness.'”

And the lesson is there for those who wish to learn it.  As this writer has explained:

Introduced March 4 as HCR100 by Reps Faye Hanohano (D-Puna), Lyla Berg (D-Hawaii Kai), and Della Au Belatti (D-Makiki), HCR100 proposed Islam Day to be “November 21, 2009, marks the anniversary of the founding of Islam….”  But that was soon amended to HCR100HD1 which intones, “the Prophet Mohammad left his house to migrate to Madinah and reached Quba in the vicinity of Madinah on the 12th day of Rabi ul-Awwal according to the lunar calendar, or September 24th according to the Gregorian calendar, thereby marking the birth of Islam….” (Emphasis added)

This is false. September 24th is the date of Mohammad’s arrival in Medina according to the old Julian calendar -- which is currently 13 days behind the modern Gregorian calendar. The fact that “Gregorian” is mentioned in the resolution implies that somebody was considering the two calendars.

Had the Hawaii legislature intended to mark the Julian date September 24 they would have picked the Gregorian date October 7, 2009 for Islam Day. Had they wished to mark the date celebrated each year by Muslims, that would have been the “12th day of Rabi ul-Awwal” -- March 9, 2009.

But instead they picked the modern Gregorian date September 24, 2009. This day corresponds to no holiday in the Islamic calendar.  But on the Julian calendar it is September 11, 2009.

In spite of these un-refuted facts, Hawaii media have editorially backed Islam Day.

"City of Brass" blogger Aziz Poonawalla of Madison, Wisconsin May 19 writes: “Naturally, there are some (conservative, Republican) people who see this as dhimmitude incarnate.  This fellow for example ... intones seriously, 'the Muslims are laughing.'  Why, yes, we are indeed.”

The Advertiser interviews one of the three Senators to vote against Islam Day:

Sen. Sam Slom...expressed frustration that he and others who oppose the celebration have been unfairly characterized as ignorant racists. He said that while he isn't necessarily opposed to having an Islam Day, scheduling the day in the same month as 9/11 commemorations was "extremely inappropriate."

In a more general sense, Slom said, he is discouraged by the seeming privilege afforded designations like Islam Day over other efforts to celebrate or recognize events important to those who hold more conservative American values.

He cited lackluster observances of 9/11 (including President Obama's designation of the 9/11 anniversary as a "day of service") and the state's cautious approach to marking the 50th anniversary of Hawaii statehood.

"We can 'celebrate' the contributions of Islamic culture, but we have to 'commemorate' not 'celebrate' statehood?" he said. "I went to the statehood conference at the Convention Center and it was blah. Everybody from the state and city was on tippy-toes not to offend anybody. Yet we can celebrate Islam Day? It just rubs more salt in the wound."

Ouansafi makes the requisite "Moderate Muslim" noises telling the Advertiser:

""We are a faith of 1.5 billion people, and like every religion there will be a few idiots.  There are those who do bad things in the name of Islam, and we have always condemned them to the fullest extent because their actions are in opposition to our beliefs. It's important to remember that these people target and kill other Muslims more than anybody else."

But when Hawai`i Free Press reprinted a Danish Mohammad cartoon is solidarity with European newspapers being targeted by Islamist rioters, Ouansafi echoed the rioters' call for a blasphemy ban:

There should be no place in our society or the world for hate speech. It is time that we all do our share to combat this Islamophobia the same way the world worked to eradicate anti-Semitism. We should all condemn and stand against all acts of intolerance, incitement and disrespect against people or communities based on ethnic origin or religious belief.

It is the right thing to do; it is the American thing to do.

Wrong.  In America we have free speech and freedom of the press.  American law is superior to Islamic law.

But that is not all.  After "idiots" rioting worldwide "killed other Muslims" over the cartoons, the Muslim Association of Hawaii Islamic Information Office website posted a statement by "Muslim Religious Leaders":

"The events in Denmark concerning the Messenger of God represent an entirely unacceptable crime of aggression that has violated the highest sanctities of the Muslim people."

To be fair, one commenter identifying himself as "dr.m.mahmood.rafiq" took issue with the MAH-IIO web posting and called for "positive energy as opposed to acting with force."  He said publication of the cartoons was "a sign from Allah."  He asks "what is the lesson this teaches us?"  And answers:

"...there must be thousands of Muslims doing their best to disgrace the name of Muhammad simply by dressing up in manners that make them seem sub-human ..hippies, punks, eggheads, bi- or whatever but essentially not human or Muslim at all...."

It is not clear how many of the "bi-sexual hippie egghead punks" protesting outside the International Women's Conference Tuesday will be "sub-human" in the eyes of "Dr. Rafiq."

Mohammad cartoons were not the only incidence of the "moderate" MAH attacking free speech.  When Hawai`i Free Press in September, 2007 exposed allegations of "fraud" in relation to plans to build a mosque in a Kona residential subdivision, MAH-connected Muslims threatened to sue.  They teamed up with the terror-connected Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) but we stood our ground, the article is still up, and no lawsuit has been filed.  The lesson is clear: Not only free speech, but even Hawaii County zoning ordinances and the covenants of Big Island community associations are both infinitely superior to Islamic law.

Here, too, is a lesson for anybody who wishes to learn it.  The absence of concessions shows Muslims there is no desire to submit to Islam.  They go elsewhere on their life-long quest for submission.

CAIR is just the tip of the iceberg.  The Hawaii MAH-IIO webmaster Abdul Rashid Abdullah is Deputy Director of American Muslims Armed Forces and Veteran Affairs Council—an organization responsible for recruitment and training of the Muslim Chaplains in the US Armed Forces. One of the tiny group’s most active members is former Muslim chaplain Army Captain James "Yousef" Yee who was charged with espionage at Guantanamo—though charges were later dropped for ‘national security reasons’. The group's co-founder, Abdurahman Alamoudi, was busted in Britain in 2003 with a suitcase full of money from Libya.  Alamoudi, a former associate of Presidents Clinton and Bush is now serving a 23-year sentence for his involvement in a Libyan-backed effort to assassinate the Saudi Crown Prince, Abdullah.

To this day King Abdullah and Libyan dictator Muammar Gadaffi cannot sit in the same room without cursing each other.  Hawaii is an unlikely flashpoint in THAT "debate".

Brisbane-Australia-based Dr Mohammed Abdalla, came to Hawaii to deliver numerous lectures at MAH for the just-ended month of Ramadan, 2009.  He has been a favorite each Ramadan for several years at the MAH's Saudi-funded Manoa mosque.  Abdalla tells the Star-Bulletin October 7, 2006 he has been on "a continuous speaking circuit in Australia since the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks."

The Star-Bulletin titles the interview: "Searching for true jihad."  The article correctly points out, "Terrorism is a political strategy, a tactic of radical Muslims; 'it is not an ideology.'"  Abdalla tells his interviewer, ""Jihad is the No. 1 question."  Abdalla tells the Star-Bulletin:  "To speak a word of truth in the face of a tyrant or an oppressor is a great jihad."

Only the simplest mind could fail to see that America and Israel are the so-called "oppressor" and "tyrant" targeted by rhetorical and political jihad.

Asked by Australian ABC radio about a 2003 bomb-threat video against the Australian Foreign Ministry and the Australian Security Intelligence Organization HQ, which landed Australian Muslim Zeky "Zak" Mallah a two-year sentence, Abdalla says, "I think in any society the young people can be easily manipulated, and that is something that we should accept."  He then proceeds to heap blame upon the Australian government.

Abdalla does admit one Islamic fault: "We do have a problem in Muslim society: There is no centralized body."

The centralized body missing from Islam is the caliphate.  Abdalla's focus on the need for a "centralized body" is in concord with the primary goal of the Holocaust-denier boss of the Muslim Brotherhood -- and the Brotherhood itself since its founding in 1928--restoration of the Islamic caliphate dismantled in 1924 at the end of the Ottoman Empire.

Back in Brisbane, Abdalla is the Saudi-paid Founding Director of the Saudi-funded Griffith Islamic Research Unit (GIRU).

A Muslim doctor caught fire during a failed June 30, 2007 Glasgow, Scotland airport nail-bomb attack which came after a failed June 28, 2007 London nightclub car bomb attack.  Half a world away, Australian authorities arrested the cousin of two of the terrorists involved, India-born Dr Mohamed Haneef, as he sought to leave the country.  The Adelaide Advertiser July 22, 2007 explained:

The (Australian Federal Police) AFP probe was looking at documents discovered in the raid referring to destroying structures, law enforcement sources said.

The investigation also was examining information seized in the raid that indicated the Gold Coast doctor planned to leave Australia the day before or after September 11 – the anniversary of the terrorist attacks on New York, they said.

The AFP investigation is also looking at information that Dr Haneef was one of a group of doctors who had been familiarising themselves with the operation of planes at a Queensland premises.

Dr Haneef, 27, was last week charged with recklessly supporting terrorist activity by providing a mobile phone SIM card to his second cousins, Sabeel and Kafeel Ahmed, both of whom are being held in Britain over the failed terrorist attacks.

Abdalla swung into action.  Educating Muslims about the immorality of terror bombings?  No.  The Australian Broadcasting Company (ABC) reported July 22 on a forum hosted by Abdalla with speakers including Haneef's lawyer.  According to ABC: "Muslim community leader Dr Mohammed Abdalla said Haneef had not been treated fairly and the Government was using the Muslim community for political gain."

When the Saudi Embassy funded Abdalla's school just weeks after Haneef's arrest, The Australian, September 17, 2007 reported:

Muslim leaders and academics have attacked Queensland's Griffith University for accepting an initial $100,000 grant from the Saudi embassy, which they accused of having given cash in the past to educational institutions to improve the perception of Wahhabism - a hardline interpretation of Islam....

A former member of (Australian PM) John Howard's Muslim reference board, Mustapha Kara-Ali, accused the Saudis of using their financial power to transform the landscape of Australia's Islamic community and silence criticism of Wahhabism. "They want to silence criticism of the Wahhabi establishment and its link to global terrorism and national security issues," he said....

James Cook University's Mervyn Bendle, a senior lecturer in the history of communication and terrorism, said Saudi Arabia would not provide funds to any Islamic initiative without wanting to propagate its own agenda and version of Islam.

"Historically, Saudi funding around the world has been used to promote Wahhabism," he said.

"It would be naive to just accept on the surface that this is not the case as far as this money is concerned." ...

But the director of Griffith's key Centre for Ethics, Law, Justice and Governance, Ross Homel, defended the Saudi grant the university received on August 23, saying it came with "no strings" attached.

He said the grant - which was not solicited by Griffith but followed "negotiations" between the university and the embassy - would help fund research scholarships at the Islamic centre, promote moderate Islam and supplement the salary of the body's director, Mohamad Abdalla....

"In fact, we wouldn't accept the money if it was for ... hardline (purposes) ... well, I'd like to believe we wouldn't" (said Hormel).

Among Abdalla's eleven doctoral students is the former deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato Sari Anwar Ibrahim.  Ousted in 1998 from his Malay government position on corruption and the first of the two sodomy charges he has faced, Anwar Ibrahim is a founder and director of the Herndon, VA based International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT).

IIIT was raided March 20, 2002.  Ibrahim and other directors of the IIIT refused to testify in investigations of IIIT's financial support for terrorism.  Also refusing to testify, University of South Florida Professor Dr Sami Al-Arian, admitted financier of Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

The Washington Post, November 14, 2006 reports:

A potentially key witness has refused to testify in the long-running investigation into whether Islamic charities in Northern Virginia were financing terrorist organizations, according to recently unsealed court documents.

Former Florida professor Sami al-Arian declined to answer questions before a federal grand jury in Alexandria last month, according to documents unsealed in federal court in Tampa. Arian, who was acquitted in one of the nation's highest-profile terrorism cases but then pleaded guilty to a single charge, believes his life would be in danger if he testified, his attorneys told a judge.

Prosecutors want Arian to reveal what they believe are his ties to the International Institute of Islamic Thought, or IIIT, a Herndon think tank that is one of the key organizations under investigation. The probe, which federal officials have called the nation's largest terrorism-financing investigation, is focused on a Herndon-based network of Muslim charities, businesses and think tanks. The Muslim charities deny any terrorist ties.

A federal jury in Tampa deadlocked last year on nine charges that Arian aided terrorists and acquitted him of eight other counts. He then pleaded guilty to one count of supporting Palestinian Islamic Jihad and was sentenced to 57 months in prison. With time already served, he was expected to be released from prison and deported next year.

But Arian is now likely to be held in contempt by a federal judge in Alexandria for refusing to testify before the grand jury, his lawyers said last week at a court hearing in Tampa, according to a transcript. That could add as much as 18 months to his prison term unless he relents and testifies. He is unlikely to do so, his attorneys said.

The investigation burst into public view more than four years ago when federal agents swarmed into homes and businesses in Herndon and elsewhere in Northern Virginia. They carted away 500 boxes of documents -- from some of the most established Islamic organizations in the United States -- that they believed contained evidence of an international terrorism financing network.

The March 2002 searches have led to the convictions of two people, including prominent Muslim activist Abdurahman Alamoudi, who admitted that he plotted with Libya to assassinate the Saudi ruler.

That is the same Abdurahman Alamoudi who was the boss of the American Muslims Armed Forces and Veteran Affairs Council before beginning his 23-year prison sentence.  Hawaii MAH-IIO webmaster, Abdul Rashid Abdullah is now the group's Deputy Director.

Ouansafi, Abdalla, Ibrahim, Alamoudi, Abdullah, Ouansafi:  Of course this is all a coincidence.  Really.

Every terrorist or guerilla force of the last century has had its political wing and its financiers.  The IRA had Sinn Fein.  The KKK had the Democratic Party.  Why would the Islamic Brotherhood be any different?

What would a political agent of Islamism say to Americans after Islamist terrorists killed 3000 people?

Why is Hawaii a "flashpoint" in these debates?

The answer to both questions comes in the Star-Bulletin, September 15, 2001, describing Hawaii Governor Ben Cayetano, gathering with thousands of people three days after the 9-11 attacks for a prayer and remembrance service at the Hawaii State Capitol building.

When Hakim Ouansafi, president of the Muslim Association and Islamic Center of Hawaii spoke, the Capitol became silent.

"Remove hatred and the labels we give each other, and replace them with compassion," he said, and the crowd opened in applause.

Suckers.
