DEPARTMENT OF HAWAIIAN HOME LANDS RELEASES DRAFT OʻAHU ISLAND PLAN
Beneficiary Manaʻo on Draft Island Plan Sought
News Release from DHHL October 29, 2013
KAPOLEI — The Department of Hawaiian Home Lands invites beneficiaries to review and comment on the Draft O‘ahu Island Plan, which will guide DHHL management and development of trust lands on the island over the next 20 years.
The Draft O‘ahu Island Plan was transmitted to the Hawaiian Homes Commission earlier this week for review and comment. This finalizes the participation process begun in July with three Beneficiary Consultation meetings to gather input on draft proposed land use designations.
Beneficiaries and other interested parties and organizations are encouraged to review the Draft Plan and submit comments no later than November 18, 2013. Comments can be sent to Nancy McPherson, DHHL Staff Planner, via email at nancy.m.mcpherson@hawaii.gov; or by mail to the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands, Planning Office, P.O. Box 1879, Honolulu, HI 96805.
The O‘ahu Island Plan is being developed by DHHL’s Planning Office in consultation with PBR HAWAII and Associates, and is the last of five island plans developed as part of DHHL’s planning system.
Final approval of the O’ahu Island Plan will be sought at the Hawaiian Homes Commission meeting on December 16, 2013, in Kapolei. For more information and to download the Draft Plan and other relevant documents, please visit the O’ahu Island Plan beneficiary consultation page at dhhl.hawaii.gov/po/beneficiary-consultation/2013-beneficiary-consultations/oip.
