Would you trust your future to a trooother? Neil Abercrombie apparently wants all of Hawaii to depend on 9-11 Trooother Van Jones for "Green Jobs."
In an August 6 news release, Abercrombie, now seeking the Governor's position, claims “as much as $620 million will be available for Hawaii, creating as many as 7,000 new green jobs.” Money for the jobs program will come from what Heritage estimates will be “$5.7 trillion in (new) tax revenue between 2012 and 2035.” If true, that would cover only the first year's job losses.
But how will those jobs be brought to Hawaii? In his email, Abercrombie proudly tells his constituents he “…recently sponsored a workshop to help people understand where we are today, and to get a better sense of what it will take for Hawaii to develop a green economy. The workshop attracted more than 100 people, including business owners, educators, government officials and a lot of interested residents. By video link, we heard from Van Jones, President Obama's Special Advisor for Green Jobs….”
Is Van Jones somebody Hawaii can rely on?
UPDATE: Controversy over fiery remarks fells Abercrombie's 9-11 truther point man for "green jobs" (one down, many to go)
WASHINGTON — The White House environmental adviser under fire for inflammatory statements made before he joined the administration resigned after what he called a "vicious smear campaign against me." (Translation: "they kept playing those Youtube videos of me talking. That's a 'smear.'")
Van Jones "understood that he was going to get in the way" of President Barack Obama's agenda, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said Sunday. (In other words he's gone because he got caught. Obama needs to do this on the down low.)
The resignation was disclosed without advance notice by the White House in a dead-of-the-night e-mail on a holiday weekend. (Because they want you not to notice.) It came as Obama is working to regain his footing in the contentious health care debate.
Jones, who specialized in environmentally friendly "green jobs" with the White House Council on Environmental Quality, was linked to efforts suggesting a government role in the Sept. 11 attacks and to derogatory comments about Republicans....

ABC NEWS: Controversial Obama Administration Official Denies Being Part of 9/11 "Truther" Movement, Apologizes for Past Comments (remember VJ is smearing himself here)
A top environmental official of the Obama administration issued a statement Thursday apologizing for past incendiary statement and denying that he ever agreed with a 2004 petition on which his name appears, a petition calling for congressional hearings and an investigation by the New York Attorney General into "evidence that suggests high-level government officials may have deliberately allowed the September 11th attacks to occur."
Van Jones, the Special Advisor for Green Jobs at the White House Council on Environmental Quality, is Number 46 of the petitioners from the so-called "Truther" movement which suggests that people in the administration of President George W. Bush "may indeed have deliberately allowed 9/11 to happen, perhaps as a pretext for war."
In a statement issued Thursday evening Jones said of "the petition that was circulated today, I do not agree with this statement and it certainly does not reflect my views now or ever."
He did not explain how his name came to be on the petition....
Jones also said in his statement that "In recent days some in the news media have reported on past statements I made before I joined the administration – some of which were made years ago. If I have offended anyone with statements I made in the past, I apologize." (Notice he is denying none of the reports...Also notice Obama has not tossed this person overboard.)

Washington Times: Green jobs czar signed 'truther' statement in 2004 (remember VJ was smearing himself back in '04)
Mr. Jones signed a statement for 911Truth.org in 2004 demanding an investigation into what the Bush Administration may have done that “deliberately allowed 9/11 to happen, perhaps as a pretext for war.”
His name is listed with 99 other prominent signatories supporting such an investigation on the 911Truth.org website, including Code Pink co-founders Medea Benjamin and Jodi Evans, comedienne Janeane Garofalo, Democratic Rep. Cynthia McKinney of Georgia and others. He's identified as the executive director for the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights on the statement, which he founded before going to the White House. The statement is available here. Mr. Jones is number 46.
Mike Berger, a spokesman for 911Truth.org, told the Washington Times over the phone that all of the signers had been verified by their group. He said 9/11Truth.org board members “spoke with each person on the list by phone or through email to individually confirm they had added their name to that list.”
“I think in most cases they spoke to them personally,” he added. “No one’s name was put on that list without them knowing it.”
