Same-sex "marriage" is not a done deal!
Message to Supporters from Hawaii Family Forum August 19, 2013
Many of you have contacted our office declaring your dismay at the current news that our governor, and legislature, may call a special session to pass same-sex 'marriage."
Today, 30 churches supposedly came out in support of redefining marriage to include same-sex couples. This is not surprising; however, we must keep in mind that historically, many mainline churches including the Roman Catholic Church, the LDS Church, Calvary Chapels, Assemblies of God, Hope Chapels and New Hope and other non-denominational churches have consistently remained committed to supporting marriage between one man and one woman. Those churches standing together, number in the hundreds.
Now is the time to raise your voice to support marriage between one man and one woman.
We are asking you do four things: (please do this yourself and do not leave it to others)
1) Call the Governor's office at (808) 586-0034 and ask him NOT to convene a special session. Having a special session in this kind of economy is simply irresponsible. A vote of this importance should be left to the voting public.
2) Contact your own representative and tell him or her not to redefine marriage. Make it clear that when you voted in 1998, you did not vote to allow the legislature to define marriage any way they choose to define it.
3) If they feel that same-sex marriage should be established in Hawaii, then they should do the right thing and repeal the constitutional amendment of 1998 and present a clear constitutional amendment question to the people for a vote.
4) Finally, contact your own pastor and thank them for standing in strong support of natural marriage.
We know this issue is very divisive, but the future of our keiki is at a crossroads. Please take a moment and make your voice heard.
Mahalo!
