The Manchurian Candidate

Dear Editor,  Dec 26, 2020

A question barely asked and should be answered before Joe Biden takes office is "What was China getting from Hunter Biden for its money?" It's a puzzle. Clearly Hunter has no skills or expertise that warrant payments of the millions he received. The ongoing hypotheses--that it was for access to his father--"The Big Man"--or it was for "political favors" doesn't quite add up. First we have to ask, "What favors?" Second, Much of the money was paid in the period of 2017--2019. when Joe had little or no political leverage to speak of. There are too many puzzle pieces missing or that 'don't fit' to satisfy that hypotheses. 1

Let's consider the another hypotheses where all the puzzle pieces do seem to fit: The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) was paying Joe to run for president of the United States---to be a candidate. That's all. The CCP, with  its partners, would employ its resources in the U.S. to get Joe elected.

Let's look at some of the puzzle pieces for this hypothesis: The established strong ties between Bidden and the CCP; the timing; the CCP discontent with Donald Trump; the $400 million that the CCP (reportedly) paid Dominion just weeks before the election 2; The masterfully-planned stolen election (alleged, of coarse); CCP infiltration of American institutions and digital systems; the 'political' aspect of China's "Unrestricted Warfare" philosophy; Joe's choice of all pro-China Cabinet members. Then, of course, there's Kamala Harris--a push-over for the CCP. These puzzle pieces, and more, fit snugly together to paint President-Elect Joe Biden, as the real-live Manchurian candidate.

Find a piece that doesn't fit and we can strike this hypothesis out. Until then, we should take it very seriously. It wouldn't do to have the Chinese Communist government controlling the Commander in Chief of the United States Armed Forces. That would be worth $billions, to the CCP, wouldn't it?  If this  hypothesis turned out to be the case, the day that Joe Biden is sworn into office is the day that Red China conquers the United States of America.

TO: All OHA Trustees

SUBJECT:  Urgent & Important—Written Testimony of Germaine Meyers Regarding Agenda 4-A--Organization of the Board of Trustees, Election of Officers, Committee Chairs and Vice Chairs

Aloha Trustees,   December 9, 2020

My name is Germaine Meyers.  I’m a beneficiary for beneficiary advocacy and empowerment.  I’m also a Nanakuli Hawaiian Homestead Lessee.

First and foremost, my ohana and I extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the recently elected and re-elected Trustees:  Trustee Luana Alapa, Trustee Keola Lindsey, Trustee Keli’i Akina, and Trustee Dan Ahuna.

In regards to the subject matter I would like to express my deep concerns for the unity of OHA’s Board of Trustees, especially after reading Trustee Brendon Lee’s message in OHA’s December 2020 issue of Ka Wai Ola, he titled, “OHA’s New Board.”

At first, it seems Trustee Lee is providing the lahui with “facts” concerning Hawaii State Election and Sunshine laws, as well as OHA policies in response to beneficiaries who asked Trustee Lee “What happens after the election to the positions on the Board of Trustees at OHA?”

But it soon becomes evident that Trustee Lee used OHA’s Ka Wai Ola to FORCE UPON the lahui his personal beliefs and opinions, false interpretations, and undeserved diminishing of OUR ELECTED TRUSTEES, some of whom are mothers, fathers, and teachers of native Hawaiian and Hawaiian children.

I’m a Neighborhood Board member of Nanakuli.  Sunshine Law, emphasis on law, allows ALL BOARD MEMBERS the opportunity to meet without notifying the public for the purpose of discussing board leadership reorganization.  We on the Neighborhood Board do this each and every year in July.

However, with an undertone of arrogance, Trustee Lee claims “Make no mistake—it is political campaigning, and for some, it is about power.”   Let us all be very clear in our understanding, POWER is TRUSTEE LEE’S DEFINITION of the Board of Trustees, Board Officers, Committee Chairs and Vice Chairs.  Power he seems to define for self, family, and friends—A HUI.

For myself on the Neighborhood Board and for many of you that sought and were elected to OHA’s Board of Trustees, we seek leadership positions to use our God-blessed skills, experiences, and guidance to serve others—THE LAHUI.

Trustee Lee further informs us that the 2018 Board was put in place with a “strong” Vice-Chair of a Committee or a “seasoned” Trustee as the Chair of a committee and an “inexperienced” trustee “allowed” to be Vice-Chair of that committee rather than chair it.  Again, let us all be very clear in our understanding, these are Trustee Lee’s interpretations of who is strong, seasoned, inexperienced, and worthy to be allowed leadership roles.

I asked myself, who determined that Trustee Lee’s inexperience of being an OHA Trustee (2018 was his first time being elected an OHA Trustee) made him worthy to be the OHA Board Vice Chair?

Trustee Lee goes on to express more of his divisive personal views and opinions.  He ends it with a list of OHA Trustee leadership, subject to ratification.  I guess Trustee Lee attended the various unofficial Ad Hoc Committee meetings for OHA Trustee leadership?

Trustee Lee did make an encouraging statement in his message.  He stated “Time will tell if OHA will become the endowment it can be and change the perception beneficiaries have of their Trustees.”

I agree and for this reason, I support the ratification of the pono leadership recommendations by Trustee Lee, most especially Trustee Hulu for OHA Board Chair and Trustee Lei Ahu Isa for Board Vice Chair.  I believe these women, along with many of you, have the skills and experiences to change the perception beneficiaries have of their Trustees to a positive, safe, and secure one.

Germaine Meyers

TMT Ethics: Taxpayer Funds for Benefit of Protesters

Dear Editor,  Dec 4, 2020

The Hawaii County Board of Ethics is reviewing an ethics complaint pertaining to the county’s actions at  TMT protest on Maunakea Access Road.

Yes, I have read the Corporation Counsel’s legal opinion, which states the county largely has no jurisdiction up there – its a state issue.

The county’s took their cues from the state as far as any enforcement
action on the protesters.

I don’t have a problem with the latter, but I do have a problem with a singular county action that crossed the line.  This was when county manpower and equipment, which is taxpayer funded, was used to lay and grade an aggregate material pad on the lava rock for the benefit of only the protesters. This not only broke state environmental laws, but also inappropriately used taxpayer funds for the sole benefit of one group.

I strongly believe the focus of the ethics complaint should be narrowed
to investigate who approved the use of county funds to do this work.
These individuals should be held accountable for their actions.
