Lime suspends service in Honolulu after city classifies scooters as mopeds

PBN: …Lime said it is temporarily suspending its electric scooter-sharing service in Honolulu on Friday, following the city’s announcement that the company is in violation of state and city laws for failing to register the scooters as mopeds.

(Translation: Shoulda made good with political insiders like Biki did.)

On Thursday, Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell said users or owners of the scooters could also be subject to a $1,000 fine.

The Honolulu Police Department, which began impounding the dock-less scooters on Monday, said it has confiscated as many as 100 of the scooters that were parked on city sidewalks or private property.

“Yesterday, the City offered us a rationale behind impounding our scooters, citing our low-speed electric scooters classify as mopeds,” the company said in statement. “As a result, we have decided to temporarily suspend our service out of respect for the city, our riders, and local team-members, while we review the relevant code and evaluate our next steps.

“We hope to be able to work collaboratively with City leaders to establish a sensible regulatory framework around this new shared scooter model so that we can return to serving the City & County of Honolulu.”

Lime said close to two thousand riders in Honolulu have used the service since it launched last week…..

Stupidity Eruption: Conspiracy Theorists Tie Anti-Geothermal Hysteria to Tsunami Threat

ZH: …What officials aren’t telling you is that PGV contains tens of thousands of gallons of highly flammable solvents which it uses to power its turbines. If earthquakes, eruptions, or fire cause this solvent to ignite it would trigger a massive explosion which National Guard/Civil Defense whistle-blowers fear will cause a massive tidal wave which would in turn threaten the Hawaiian Islands and the lives of people in the region…. (Written by InfoWars 911 troooother Sheppard Ambellas)

Bonus: Anti-geothermal activist Sara Steiner: “PGV most likely started this eruption, like they started Pu’u O’o in 1983.”

Reality: 1) The geo plant is miles from the ocean.  2) The ‘highly flammable solvent’ (pentane) was removed last week. 3) And 60,000 gal of pentane is nowhere near enough to cause a tsunami even if it were in the ocean, which it wasn’t.  4) Oh, and if you think a pentane explosion could cause an earthquake or a volcanic eruption, I can’t help you.

Homeless Begin Claiming to be Volcano Victims, Set up New Tent City

HTH: …Hawaii County officials asked law enforcement to deal with a number of campers who staked out at Spencer beach park.

On Friday afternoon, Hawaii Police Department Maj. Robert Wagner confirmed about 40 campers without permits are at the beach. While they have been there for some time, it was brought to the attention of the county when permit-holding campers went to the area and found their spots taken.

“The county asked us to go down there and talk to the campers,” Wagner said.

The major said officers went to the Waimea beach to inform them they needed permits to camp.

According to Hawaii County Managing Director Wil Okabe, some of the campers claimed to be from Leilani Estates and the surrounding lower Puna area….

Okabe said the individuals camping at Spencer asked to stay a few days and then extended the time.

“We have people who have reserved a year ago and have permits,” Okabe said. “Police are down there and are trying to mitigate the situation.”

He added that all county parks are not shelters. Areas have been made available for those displaced by the eruption.

Okabe said a shelter in Pahoa has the capacity for 800 people. There also is a field for those who want to put up tents. There is food and all the facilities to assist them.

“It’s very unfortunate that some people feel entitled to certain facilities when others have permits,” Okabe said. “They need to leave.”….

Best Comment: “I was there a week ago and knew within seconds illegal long term campers moved in. They were drinking alcohol and smoking in plain view. They were blocking the walkway with personal property. This is unacceptable.  There was a private company hired a few years back to patrol and check for permits. They did a great job. Where are they? Why did the county terminate them?”

Kauai: Lifeguards Save ANOTHER Snorkel Victim

KGI: …According to witness reports, a 60-year-old New Mexico man went snorkeling near the west end of Waiohai bay at 12:30 p.m. A swimmer in the water saw the man, unresponsive, and pulled him to shore where another bystander began administering CPR.

Lifeguards, then firefighters and medics arrived on scene and continued CPR as they transported the patient to Wilcox Hospital. The man, who was in critical condition at the time, was later at the hospital in satisfactory condition.

While responding to the man on shore, lifeguards heard another cry for help in the water. One of the lifeguards left the scene to respond, and rescued a 27-year-old female from San Jose, California.

Additionally, around the same time, another lifeguard from the Poipu Beach tower noticed a second female in distress near the Nukumoi point. The lifeguard responded, and assisted the female to shore.

Both women were treated at the scene by medics….
