False Dichotomy: Hanabusa Does Her Part to Force GE Tax Hike

Borreca: …What also is not likely to come up, according to Hanabusa, who is also the outgoing chairwoman of the Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation, is any new federal money for the overbudget rail line.  “The feds have been clear: there is not going to be any new money,” Hanabusa said….

(Hanabusa’s purpose is to manipulate legislators into supporting a GE Tax hike next session by presenting them with a false dichotomy—GE tax hike or stop at Middle Street.)

Star-Adv: A Crook Like Clinton is a Perfect Match for Hawaii’s Business and Political Elite

SA: …Without a doubt, both the Republican nominee, Donald Trump, and Democrat Hillary Clinton are flawed candidates for the most powerful office in the world….

This conclusion is evident despite Clinton’s past stumbles. Most notably these include practices as secretary of state that exhibited her penchant for secrecy, particularly concerning emails she had directed to her own private server.

And regarding the work of the international charity, the Clinton Foundation, she still has not dealt sufficiently with questions about influence held by donors with State Department dealings.

The result: If she is elected, Clinton will face a public trust deficit she must work to overcome with transparency not forced on her by WikiLeaks….clear policies that mesh well with values of Hawaii voters….

So if the voter is looking for an affirmative reason to pick Clinton, beyond Trump’s erratic and crude remarks, there is this: her superior capacity to do the job….

The Star-Advertiser also endorses the Democratic slate for Congress and to the U.S. Senate.

Hazmat Suit Needed to Vote

Shapiro: This year’s election season has been so pilau that when my ballot arrived in the mail last week, I felt I should put on a hazmat suit before opening it.

Instead, I gingerly pinched the envelope and shook out the contents.

There was little to excite: major races with few appealing candidates and little real competition, lackluster incumbent legislators and City Council members running unopposed, and poorly explained proposals to amend the state Constitution and City Charter….

Options for primary care doctors are shrinking

SA: Nearly a third of Oahu’s primary care doctors are no longer accepting new patients.

Many patients are left in limbo as their doctors retire, decline patients on Medicare or Medicaid — the government health insurance programs for seniors and low-income residents — or are unwilling to take on those with complicated medical problems due to new payment models that penalize providers for poor patient outcomes….

Amendment 7 Establishes Office for High Priest of Eco-Religion

SA: …Our state must prepare by mapping out a strategy to shore up beaches and protect homes from rising waters, fortify our infrastructure against dramatic flooding, and keep our keiki cool without straining the grid. And we must do it now, rather than waiting until the worst effects of climate change have taken hold.

Proposed City Charter Amendment 7 seeks to do just that for Oahu. A “yes” vote will create an Office of Climate Change, Sustainability and Resiliency, empowering the city to “promote stewardship of natural resources for present and future generations.” Once passed, the office, housed with the managing director, will be a hub of information and a driver for cross-department coordination to protect our shorelines and preserve our fresh water supply.

The office and its director would track climate science and potential impacts on city facilities; coordinate actions and policies of departments within the city to protect economic activity and coastal areas and beaches; and coordinate with state and federal agency partners….

Reality for those few who can handle it: Sea Level Rise? Nonsense, Oahu is Rising From the Sea for Next 1.5M Years

Gun Control Nuts Explore New Angle to Attack Hawaii Gun Stores

SA: A neighborhood mom-and-pop shop where kids flock after school for fresh cookies and shave ice has an unusual sign in its window: “Danger Close Tactical: Firearms and Ammo.”

The choice is yours when you step into KD Cafe in Pauoa Valley. Stop at the counter for a sweet treat. Or if you’re over 21, you can step into a tiny adjoining room that houses the gun dealership known as Danger Close Tactical.

“My hours are usually after any of the children are here,” said Dwayne Lim, a National Guard technician and marksman who sees customers after 4 p.m. on weekdays in the space carved from his wife’s cafe. “The kids are always curious, but the door is locked.”

On the other side of the Pali, customers looking for a teeth-cleaning or perhaps a pistol might try the squat brick building in Kailua that houses the Dr. KB Chun & Sons dental practice. The one-story facility doubles as the site of the federal firearms dealership of dentist Mark Chun.

Despite their unconventional settings, both gun businesses are perfectly legal, licensed by the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and approved by local authorities. They operate on commercially zoned property with their landlords’ permission.

Another 3rd World Politician Flaunts Fake Hawaii PhD

GN: …He also received a PhD from the Atlantic International University in Hawaii….  (BREG: Pioneer Plaza, 900 Fort St #40, Honolulu, HI 96813)

He insisted in radio and TV interviews to be addressed a doctor. Since honorary doctorate holders are not normally entitled to be referenced as such in public communication, we turned our attention to his so-called earned PhD from the Atlantic International University. Our view was that it must be the institution that gave him the gravitas to insist on being addressed a doctor.

However, this is where the problem is. The NAB declares the Atlantic International University unaccredited to confer doctoral degrees in Ghana. Rightly so, the Atlantic International University is a diploma mill….

We are once again calling on the Minister of Education, Professor Agnes Naana Opoku Agyemang, to not sit back and watch the education system get infiltrated with these fake degree holders, especially those who are using the fake degrees to teach and get tenure and promotions as professors in our universities. The price for not acting is too dear for a developing country such as Ghana.

With regard to the person (Dr. Dr.) Hassan Ayariga, it is becoming clear that the man must be living in his own reality, a reality constructed on a delusion of grandeur—a psychological state in which the victim entertains false beliefs that he or she possesses superior qualities such as genius, fame, omnipotence and wealth. However, this has only been possible because he has been aided by media outlets that either lack the capacity to research these issues before publication or carry out publications that seek to celebrate what is questionable for economic gains.
