Mitsunaga: Hirono Took Same Illegal Contributions Cayetano Did

The following is a full text transcription of two 30-second radio commercials paid for by alleged pay-to-play contractor Dennis Mitsunaga.

Aloha, my name is Lois Mitsunaga and I am here to set the record straight. You keep seeing the smear campaign commercials created by John White of PRP that misstate the facts about campaign contributions. What he says are outright lies and this guy is a total hypocrite.

Civil Beat just reported that John White illegally took money out of his own campaign in his city council race and is now being investigated.

The irony is, this guy is smearing our former governor and even my father for the same things he has been doing since migrating to Hawaii from Arkansas.

He ended up as Chief of Staff for Mazie Hirono and is smearing Ben Cayetano for receiving illegal campaign contributions. The truth is, Mazie Hirono accepted $98,000 in illegal contributions and he endorsed her – but he hasn’t said a word about that.

When he ran for city council, he solicited and accepted contributions from the same people who contributed to Hirono and Cayetano. This is not the way we like politics in Hawaii with smears and lies and no aloha. PRP should fire him and restore their integrity.

Aloha, my name is Dennis Mitsunaga and I am here to set the record straight in regards to the personal attacks by John White from the Carpenters Union.

My company has been a member of the Carpenters Union for nearly 50 years and I have great respect for our union, but I am very disappointed by John White and the outright lies he has used to smear Governor Ben Cayetano and myself in his recent ads.

I say that John White is a total hypocrite because when he ran for City Council and lost to Ernie Martin, he called my office many times and he even showed up unannounced to ask for my help to raise money for him, and now he smears me and my company with false accusations.

This same John White is now being personally investigated by the Campaign Spending Commission for his own illegal activities as reported in Civil Beat.

I hope that the people of Hawaii will not pay attention to anything else coming from this hypocrite. My name and my company was smeared by him for political gain. I run a very successful and ethical engineering firm with contracts worldwide that have nothing to do with pay to play as he claims. We win contracts because we are highly qualified, and for no other reason.
