Koko Head Archery Range reopening Friday, March 24

Pistol and rifle ranges at the Koko Head Shooting Complex on-track for reopening in April 2023

News Release from Honolulu Department of Parks and Recreation, March 23, 2023

O‘AHU – The Honolulu Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) is pleased to announce the archery range at the Koko Head Shooting Complex (KHSC) will be reopening Friday, March 24 at 12 noon. Beginning Saturday the archery range will resume its regular hours of operation from sunrise to sunset, Wednesdays through Sundays.

Archers can enjoy five refurbished targets at the range thanks to efforts from KHSC volunteers and DPR staff.

The pistol and rifle ranges within KHSC remain on schedule to reopen next month in April 2023. A more specific reopening date will be announced once it is determined.

Since the last update on the many repair projects at KHSC last month, several improvement efforts have begun or are near completion, including:

The majority of the berm/backstop renovations (schedule impacted by heavy rains)
Masonry work on the range walls, pathways, and steps
Eyebrow / overhang replacement and fortification
Roofing repairs
Painting and upgrading shooting gallery amenities
Fencing along the backside of the mauka ranges
Landscaping and grounds maintenance

We greatly appreciate the continued patience and understanding of the firearms community concerning the closure of this popular shooting facility. Please visit the complex’s official website for additional information and updates about the complex and its operations: bit.ly/kokoheadrange

If you need an auxiliary aid/service, other accommodations due to a disability, or an interpreter for a language other than English in reference to this announcement, please contact the Honolulu Department of Parks and Recreation at (808) 768-3003 on weekdays from 7:45 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. or email parks@honolulu.gov
