Over $130 Million Disbursed in Relief to Hawaiʻi Families
from CNHA Lahui Connections Newsletter, March, 2023
Through our various Emergency Financial Assistance Programs, the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement has supported 8,625 households stay in their homes with over $130 million disbursed towards their rent, mortgage and utilities. Soon, CNHA will be providing Housing Stability Services and a Kupuna Rental Subsidy Program to keep families safely housed.
($130M / 8,625 = $15K per family)
Housing Stability Services will include eviction prevention through Mediation Center of the Pacific and Legal Aid Society of Hawaii, Financial Literacy classes, Case Management and Individualized Financial Budgeting. The Kupuna Rental Subsidy Program will continue CNHA’s partnership with the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands to assist Kupuna on the wait list by paying part of their rent and providing housing counseling so they can be in a better position financially.
(What is the admin cost? 10% to 30% = $13M to $39M cash for CNHA.)
